AML compliance support for UAE businesses

Anti-money-laundering rules in the UAE are set by the relevant authorities, and which of them apply depends on your sector. This page gives general guidance on policies, risk assessments and records, and explains the support we can discuss with you.

Who it suits

AML questions commonly come up for businesses in sectors that handle high-value transactions or client funds, and for any company that is asked by a bank, partner or regulator to explain its controls.

Whether a rule applies to your business, and what it requires, depends on your activity and on the authority that supervises it. Check this first, using the official guidance.

General guidance we can discuss

This is guidance and preparation support, not a ruling on what the rules require of you.

  • Policies and procedures

Helping you put your approach to customer checks, monitoring and escalation into a written document that your staff can follow.

  • Business risk assessment

Working through which customers, products, countries and delivery channels carry more risk for your business, and recording the reasoning.

  • Customer information records

Setting up a tidy way to collect and store identity and ownership documents for customers and counterparties.

  • Staff awareness material

Preparing plain-language notes so your team knows what to look for and who to tell.

  • Record-keeping

Organising the records you keep, so they can be found when you or an authority asks for them.

How it works

  1. Step 1: Confirm what applies

Establish with the relevant authority's guidance whether your activity is covered and what is expected.
  2. Step 2: Review what you have

Look at your current policies, customer files and records to see what is in place.
  3. Step 3: Prepare documents

The Nexoviz team drafts or tidies policy documents, templates and checklists for you to review.
  4. Step 4: You adopt and own them

Your management reviews, adopts and applies the documents. Responsibility for your controls stays with you.

What we need from you

  • A description of your activities

What you sell, to whom, and through which channels.

  • Existing policies

Any written procedures, even if they are short or informal.

  • Sample customer files

How identity and ownership information is collected today, with personal details removed where possible.

  • Any regulator or bank requests

Questionnaires or letters you have received about your controls.

What this page is not

This page is not legal advice and does not say that following it satisfies any rule. Registration, reporting duties and inspections are matters for the supervising authority. Where a duty must be performed by a designated person in your business, or where legal advice is needed, that stays with you and your licensed advisers.

Frequently asked questions

Does my business need an AML programme?
It depends on your activity and the authority that supervises it. Check the official guidance for your sector, or ask us and we will point you to what to read.
Can you make sure my business meets the rules?
No. Responsibility for your controls stays with your management. We can help you prepare documents and organise records, and we cannot promise how an authority or bank will view them.
Can you act as my compliance officer?
Duties that rules assign to a named person in your business are not something we can promise to take on. Ask us what is possible and check what the rules require.
Do you file reports with the authorities?
Reporting duties are set by the authority and are performed by the party the rules identify. We can explain the process and help you prepare information.
Can you review the records I already have?
Yes, we can discuss a review of your existing policies and files and tell you where information looks incomplete. It is not an inspection or an audit opinion.
